Position Overview
Based at Longmeadow- Johannesburg to further strengthen our local Marketing team, we are currently seeking a:
MARKETING MANAGER – (Longmeadow, South Africa)
Reporting directly to the Business Development Director, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:
- The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing personalized marketing and communication plans for each customer and channel, optimizing touchpoints to improve KPIs, and organizing customer & internal events. Challenges may include staying up-to-date with changing customer preferences and analyzing data to drive business growth.
III. - KEY TASKS
- Work closely with Sales and R&D to co-create products, concepts, projects based on consumer trends.
- Analyse market intelligence from a wide range of data sources and identify possible impacts on the business.
- Build and implement the product strategy in line with the headquarters strategy, the market opportunities and the short- and long-term business objectives.
- Manage the product portfolio (SKU management, profitability optimization, benchmarking) and all elements of the marketing mix (branding, pricing, route to market, promotions)
- Monitor the sales performance in terms of volume, sales, margin evolution, customer penetration
- Participate in the creation of the annual marketing plan focusing on the Group strategic pillars
- Actively support business development by customers visits and presentations, internal and external product trainings, exchange of best practices
- Develop sales and product communication support tools in line with the Group communication strategy.
- Understand the importance of digital marketing and accelerate the usage of all available tools to reach higher market penetration, brand awareness and customer loyalty
- Develop, with Technical Advisors, finished goods’ concepts adapted to the sales channels, that reflect the market trends and actively promote the Group strategic innovations.
In addition, the Marketing Manager is expected to:
- Build awareness between customers and in business development team on strategic business and market, client insights, trends in food and translates these into solutions for the business
- Develop and implement Marketing and communication plans per channel & customer, in line with Puratos Marketing strategy, customer needs and channel strategies.
- Understand the customer journey to optimize touchpoints and improve KPIs: market share, top of mind, awareness, engagement and penetration.
- Organize customer events: seminars, Innovation Days, 1-1 presentations to inspire and build relations with customers
- Gather and leverage customer data in CRM
- Recognize changing client’s behaviour and preferences, train and build awareness on client's insight to customers and adapt action plans accordingly
- Utilizing new technologies for personalized marketing, addressing data privacy concerns, competing with disruptors, and staying up to date with AI and machine learning technologies.
- Building collaboration together with business partners, representing the company on industry meetings, fairs, and food events and use networking to create new business opportunities
- Finds and implements creative and innovative solutions for business challenges in collaboration with sales
- Promotes our company culture within the wider organization. Facilitates the understanding of the organizational structure and proactively connects key stakeholders.
- Willing to travel 30% of their time
IV. – JOB REQUIREMENT
- Matric and Bachelor or master degree in Marketing, Business Management, or similar.
- Preferably a Min 5 years of experience in marketing, ideally in Food Sector (B2B)
- Experience in direct sales/ customer service would be and asset.
- Advanced knowledge in PowerPoint and Excel (incl. Pivot table).
- Great presentation skills
- Fluent in business English
