Lomeza Group (Pty) Ltd is looking for hardworking and goal driven Safety Officer’s, who will be based at Kalagadi Manganese Mine in Kuruman.

The qualified and suitable candidates applying for this position should meet the below minimum Requirements.

· Grade 12 or N3 equivalent.

· National Diploma in Safety Management.

· Blasting Certificate will be advantageous.

· COMSOC 1 and 2.

· Knowledge of MHSA and OHSA.

· First Aid Certificate.

· Competent Person B.

· SHEP Safety training completion would be advantageous.

· 3 Years relevant experience as a Safety Officer and /or acting as a Safety Officer within a UG Mining.

· Presentation / Facilitation/ Training.

· Background in Safety and Risk Control management.

· Risk Assessment Techniques.

· Background in Accident investigation.

· Computer literate (MS Office and Projects).

Responsibilities

· To promote health and safety among the workforce and to control direct and advise the efforts of the Risk / Safety dept to reduce accidents and incidents and to achieve compliance philosophy of zero harm.

· To ensure that all employees adhere to health and safety procedures and policy through training, coaching, inspecting and advising.

· To facilitate a two - way communication between management and employees on health and safety issues to ensure that employees (including contractors) work safely.

· To participate in investigations of accidents, incidents and occupational disease in order to contribute in finding solutions that will prevent re-occurrence.

· To assist the Management in the identification of hazards and to assist in the elimination or minimization of these hazards.

· To contribute to the reduction of accidents and incidents by follow up on identified health and safety concerns.

· To update the safety file and to work extra hours if needed.
